WHAT IS NAPLES PIZZA?

The history of the creation of pizza in the form of a flatbread made of flour and water, baked on a hot stone, flavored with herbs, goes back to the times of ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire.

Neapolitan pizza or pizza Napoletana as we know it today originated at the end of the 16th century, when the Spanish conquistadors brought tomatoes from South America to Europe and the peasants
from southern Italy, from the area of ​​Naples, they were the first to use them in the preparation of meals. The popularity of pizza grew thanks to street vendors, and at the end of the 17th century, restaurants began to appear in Italy –
pizzerias that offered pizza in various forms.

The creation of the most famous Neapolitan Margherita pizza is attributed to the famous Italian chef Raffaele Esposito, when he created and baked an exceptional pizza for Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited Naples in 1889, which was named in honor of the queen. The ingredients of this pizza reflected the Italian tricolor: u: red tomatoes, white mozzarella cheese and green basil leaves.
